I might be overthinking things here. My inspiration should come from things around me, the things I consume or I am part of, right? I can’t think of other sources of inspiration for an artist. So the goal is to define where exactly I get mine. As I said, my classmates(friends) inspire me the most, I think. It doesn’t mean I want to do things like them. Well, sometimes. I remember that I didn’t like creating presentations that much before — until I got to uni, and I got paired up with my classmate who does amazing presentations. I’ve literally never seen anyone make a presentation this engaging and complex. The takeaway is not that I like creating complex and beautiful presentations now, but I discovered that I really like creating silly, simple presentations with a little bit of interactivity to keep people engaged.

The more I enjoy doing something like that, though, the more anxious I am about presenting it. This is not that deep, I am just a nervous person overall. I believe it’s also tied with my motivation to do things. It’s way easier to do things when there’s no external reward (like getting a grade or getting paid). Getting rewards is inherently stressful. Sure, It’s some kind of motivation, but the one I do not enjoy. It makes sense because when there’s an external reward, there’s also a risk, which makes it stressful (not for everyone ofc, but we are talking about me now). To determine what my inspiration to do things is, we need to take off all the risks and stressful things — and I really try to do this on daily basis.

I feel like in academics, it’s really easy to get way more serious (pretentious, snobby) than it’s needed. So when I feel it’s adequate, I like to take my assignments more lightheartedly (not neglect them tho). Even if it may come out a little bit cringe in the end (the only risk I am willing to take). When you convince yourself that it’s not that serious, there’s a possibility that you’ll start getting ideas you wouldn’t think of otherwise. That’s the perfect situation for me to work in. But even when I get to this point, I’m not sure I can define where my inspiration comes from. It’s somewhat tied to trying new things and challenging the norm. Oh and also I’m inspired by things or people that I think are cool.

Unfortunately, this webcomic doesn’t work the same way it used to — It’s a way more limited now in terms of interactivity and stuff, but I still have it here.

I don’t know if I am inspired or simply amazed by this bizarre.
