I graduated high school with a branding project. I chose to make up an imaginary café and create its whole visual identity. The catch was, that we never really learnt what it takes to create a visual identity for a brand and I doubt that any of the teachers ever did something like that themselves. I wasn’t intimidated by that, though, because I had a vision.

And I went the full way — from name to logo, colour palette, interier layout, the material of packaging, cutlery or even chairs and tables. Business cards to flyers that invited people to the grand opening of the café, posters and other graphics. It wasn’t that elaborate and detailed — I didn’t know what’s important for brand making, but I also didn’t think I need to google it and maybe do a little research. I feel like it was the only design project I didn’t look at with the what’s “effective” and the “right way” attitude and I really was just expressing myself. I mean, it was my own café, so it’s not that big of a deal I guess.

I don’t remember my teacher’s attitude towards my project when it was in the process. He definitely threw a few of his comments here and there, but nothing too impactful. But like, he was really supportive to all of us, so it was on-brand for him.

The logo here is using wrong font. Reviving old files from a time when you didn’t care about the proper use of programs is fun.

as you can see, I know nothing about architecture. But I considered it very important to do.
